Why is hippotherapy so special?

The horse generates over 1500 three-dimensional rotations in 1/2 hour.  This cannot be duplicated in a clinical setting with any type modality.  It moves the rider gently and rhythmically in a manner similar to a human gait.  Riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance, strength, gross and fine motor skills and stride length.

How do we meet a rider's individual needs?

With input from the rider's parents, physician and therapists, our staff set specific goals for each rider at the start of the 10 week session.  Therapy and class plans are designed weekly to help the client work toward goals.

What about weather?

Classes are cancelled only if roads are unsafe for travel, thunderstorms or tornado activity, or school cancellations.  Instructors and Therapists offer safe, unmounted curriculum if weather prevents riding.
