Welcome to our Horse Gallery!
OUR HORSE
SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
Our horses are very special. They are the kindest,
gentlest, most "kid-friendly" animals that we have been able to find.
They are the heart and soul of the riding therapy program. The horses
are friends, teachers, confidantes, and therapists. They give love,
patience and affection to each rider and volunteer. Most of the horses
are older animals, still healthy, but certainly needing and deserving
the very best in care so that they can continue to perform in the
riding program.
For
this reason, HHTRC provides top quality feed and supplements,
veterinary and hoof care are a priority. Of course, with fifteen
horses to care for at any given time, the expenses can be
overwhelming. However, we feel that it is important to provide a
variety of different mounts to meet the needs of different riders. For
instance, a rider with cerebral palsy may have tight leg muscles and
need a narrow horse while someone with Downs Syndrome may have lower
tone and need the support of a wider mount.
The Horse Sponsorship program was designed to
help offset the ongoing costs associated with keeping horses. These
include hay and grain, worming and routine vet care, shoeing, fencing,
and barn and field maintenance. Typically it costs approximately $1000
to keep a horse for a year.
The cost for sponsoring a horse for one year of riding
is $1000. A total of $250 per horse is needed to fully cover the
horse's costs each semester, i.e. Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.
Either one person or a business can sponsor the total, or two people
can each contribute a $125 sponsorship. All sponsors are listed on the
Horse Sponsorship Board at the HHTRC Gathering Room and at this web
link. Each stall is mounted with a brass sponsorship plaque.
For your convenience, a Horse Sponsorship form is
provided via this page. Of course, all donations are tax deductible.
Thank you - The horses appreciate your support!

your name on a brass stall plate!
